IMPACT is a group art show being hosted by Netherworld and Comicstreet in the lead up to Comicstreet 2026. Show us your best “impact panels”! This can be an excerpt from a comic you have already completed OR a completely new piece of art made in response to the theme.

Successful submissions will become part of the group show hanging on the Netherworld art wall from July 9th – August 5th.

What is an impact panel?

An impact panel is dramatic comic book panel used for emphasis – usually larger than other panels, sometimes even a full or double page spread! They can be used to show intense emotion, punch up a dramatic reveal, highlight the crescendo of an action sequence, and more! These panels are often a great demonstration of the artist’s illustration and narrative pacing skill.

Art Content

You final piece should be a maximum size of A3 (not including frame) and fit the “IMPACT” theme. If submitting a digital file, please ensure it is minimum 300 DPI.

AI generated content will not be accepted.

Sales

You may sell your works as part of this show!

Netherworld will handle all sales. Netherworld takes NO commission for pieces, but does have to charge GST, so will need to take 1/11th of the sale price to cover this. For example, if a piece sells for $55, the artist will invoice Netherworld for $50, with $5 being kept by the venue to pay for GST. If the artist is themselves registered for GST, this fee will not apply.

You can charge whatever you like, so factor this GST amount into your final sale price. At the end of the show, if your piece sold, Netherworld will ask you to invoice for the amount, to be paid within a week of invoice received.

After the Show

Netherworld will organise for any sold pieces to be collected by buyers. Unsold pieces should be collected by artists by August 20th.

Preparing Your Artwork:

Digital: Please submit your art files by uploading them through the submission form linked below, along with your other submission information. Make sure your files are large enough to print well, a minimum of 300 DPI. As an example, an A4 piece needs to be a minimum of 2,480 x 3,508 pixels for a good quality print.

Physical: Physical pieces will need to be framed and ready to hang before delivery to Netherworld. If your frame does not come with default hanging equipment, you can install your own hanging wire easily. This video on Youtube is a good resource to learn how.

Please drop off your physical piece to the Netherworld Bar at 186 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley by July 7th.
